What our land is capable of producing is a beautiful blend of new and old world styles; complex, age-worthy wines that tell a story, stories that deserve to be shared. For the Hubers and the STW team, producing world-class wines handcrafted from our estate vines is the ultimate goal.... ......Great winemaking begins in the vineyards, and with the challenges posed by Virginia’s climate, mountain vineyard sites have proven to be resilient in the region’s high rainfall and humidity thanks to their well-drained soils, undulating topography, and improved airflow. With our estate vines located atop Hogback Mountain, our vineyard’s unique meso-climate possesses all three of these characteristics. ....Combined with steep slopes and constant airflow, these soils give our vines the ‘struggle’ necessary to produce concentrated, intensely flavoured grapes for our premium estate wines.
